It just doesn't feel like a year to be out in a chaotic, crowded environment if you're part of a marginalized group.
And if that marginalized group is currently targeted for violence with a lot of highly-visible rage-inducing media rhetoric, it feels less like a great time to be out - OUT, or just out.
Please be safe if you're heading to pride events this month, Phooligans.
⚠️ Situational Awareness. ⚠️
At the very least, please let someone who isn't going to be at Pride know where you're going and who you're with, and when you're expected to come home.
And take an N95 respirator with you. Even if you're not COVID-cautious, dig out an N95 from when you believed the pandemic still existed (it's still here but anyhow) and just put it in your pocket or your bag.
N95s help a little bit (not much, but enough to buy you time to escape) with tear gas and pepper spray. And they help keep your identity safer from villains, if something happens.
